PARENT CONFERENCE SCHEDULE – ELEMENTARY STUDENTS –

Grades 1-5: 8:15 – 12:45

Early Birds & Late Birds: M-F: 8:15 – 11:50

 

Lunch Schedule:

Grade 1 and 2 Lunch: 11:10 – 11:50

Grade 3 and 4 Lunch: 11:35 - 12:15

AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES:  Please remember that next week there are no After-School Programs due to Parent Conferences.  Classes will resume the week of March 6.

 

 

CARNIVAL PACKET INFO:  We are excited to announce that the Arroyo Vista PTA will be hosting our 4th annual carnival, “Spin Into Summer,” on Friday, May 19 from 2:30-7:30pm. We need your help to make the carnival another huge success! On the counter in the front office you will find  yellow sponsor packets that include information on how to sponsor the carnival and/or donate to the silent auction. We are asking that you give this packet to any businesses or individuals who might be willing to sponsor or donate. This can be a great marketing opportunity and all donations are tax deductible. Please feel free to take as many packets as you need!

There are many sponsorship levels to choose from including opportunities to pass out fliers, set up a booth at the carnival or do a demonstration or performance during the carnival. The Sponsorship form included in the packet needs to be filled out for all donations (personal or business) and included with a check made out to AVPTA. This can be placed in the PTA mailbox in the office at any time.

We are also accepting items for the Silent Auction. Possibilities include gift cards, gift baskets, tickets to a sporting event, time shares, hotel stays, lessons, summer camps, or any other goods or services you can come up with. The Silent Auction form needs to be filled out for all items. The form and the item can be brought in to the office at any time.

8th GRADE PARENTS AND STUDENTS WHO WILL BE ATTENDING TESORO HS:  Tesoro High was on campus to meet the 8th graders last week. Each student was given a BLUE REGISTRATION form along with a short presentation. The form has the list of courses your child has been pre-enrolled in based on their current middle school grades. All students need to pick at least one elective course.  The Feeder School Parent Letter has more information. Parents need to pick this elective through the Parent Portal by March 3rd. Written instructions on how to add the elective through Parent Portal are available, as well as an instructional video. This information and more is available on the Tesoro High School website on the “8th Grade Information” page under the Guidance tab at  www.tesorohighschool.com

 

PARENTS: The Tesoro Guidance department will be hosting two informational meetings for parents and students covering information related to course selection, elective courses, course placement, summer school options, and other information regarding making the transition to high school a smooth one. The meetings are open to all parents regardless of where your child attends middle school:  February 27, 2017 at 6:00pm at Ladera Ranch Middle School

 

 

YEARBOOK NEWS:

The Yearbook Needs Your Pictures:  The end of the year will be here soon and the Yearbook staff needs your pictures!  We've seen you at school events with your cameras, and now we need those photos to make a great yearbook for your children.  We need photos from all grades K-8, so please help us out.  Photos can be uploaded at http://community.lifetouch.com/   using code RXKNDR Or you can save them to a flash drive and put it in the PTA mailbox (remember to write your name and teacher on the flash drive to get it back).  Please try to label photos to help the staff know where to put them in the yearbook.  Grades, teachers, and event names are all helpful.  All pictures must be submitted by March 1.   Thank you for your help!

 

 

Last Call for Yearbook Ads:  Yearbook ads are a great way to spotlight your child in the yearbook.  Full page, half-page and quarter page ads are available to 5th and 8th graders.  Especially for you ads are available to grades K-8.  All orders are due February 24.

EFC – EDUCATION FOR THE CHILDREN:  GREAT GATSBY GALA:  Join us Saturday, March 11, 2017 for EFC Great Gatsby Gala as we celebrate 19 years of giving back to our local Tesoro Family of Schools!  Wear your fabulous roaring 20’s attire for a night to remember!  We will have a fantastic array of silent auction items during our happy hour, signature drinks, a delicious dinner buffet provided by the Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club with a live auction, and a DJ to dance the night away!  You don’t want to miss this opportunity to support Tesoro Family of Schools!  Register at www.educationforthechildren.org.

 

 

PTA NEWS:

Information on the Kids Run the OC marathon program is going home with all students this week. If you are interested for your children, there will be registration packets available in the front office. Packets are due February 13 to the box in the front office.  Practices will start February 21, and we are only doing one practice a week this year. The race will be on May 6th. The PTA is sponsoring MS Ability Awareness assemblies on February 27. Our very own 6th grade Ayden Elsasser will be speaking to the 6th, 7th and 8th graders about his story with brain cancer and his amazing Never Ever Give Up attitude.

 

YMCA NEWS:

 

YMCA Afterschool Care

Each day we provide children with homework assistance and a fun-filled afternoon of activities, organized sports, games, and crafts. Our licensed facility is located in Room 26 and Room 27 on the Arroyo Vista Campus. We are open from 6:45am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday. We are open all school furlough days, along with Spring, Thanksgiving, Summer, and Winter Breaks.  We have options to fit any family’s need.  We have 5, 3, and 2 day options available as well as a Drop-In program.** Morning Care, Kindergarten Plus, and After School Care **  Our staff is CPR and First Aid certified and dedicated to providing the best childcare available. Financial aid is available for qualified families.

YMCA Spring Track Program

This spring over 300 youth will be participating in the annual YMCA afterschool track program.

The program will start the week of April 10 and run through the last week of school. Practices at Arroyo Vista Elementary will take place on Fridays at 2:45pm with a YMCA track coach.

Youth will get practice in several track aspects including relays, shot-put, long jump and more. There will be two track meets at Laguna Hills High School on May 6th and June 3rd for kids across the district to showcase their skills. 

Program fees are $80 for YMCA Afterschool Care participants and $160 for others. Registration is currently open so don’t delay! For more information please contact Jose Tabarez at 949-589-8502 or email at jtabarez@ymcaoc.org

What: Annual Campaign Fundraiser Half-Nighter Event

When: Friday, February 24th from 6-10pm

Where: Arroyo Vista YMCA

Cost: $40 per child and $10 for each additional sibling (Children must be potty trained)

*100% of the proceeds will go towards our Campaign Fundraiser which is used to help empower our youth and strengthen the bonds of our community.*
